Hawaiian kava, blended with California-grown Kali-Isa. Creamy Hawaiian root makes up three quarters of the bag. The other quarter by weight is Kali-Isa we grow ourselves in Sacramento — the part that stiffens the drink. Ground, blended and packed in California, so every root in the bag is grown in the United States.
Beverage grade, with a noble outcome. Isa is its own lineage: not noble, not tudei. It followed a separate path in Papua New Guinea and carries more dihydromethysticin and dihydrokavain than either. We process it to bring the flavokavains down below what we measure in most noble root, and every lot crosses the bench before it is blended.
What's in the bag
- 75% Hawaiian kava, blended with 25% California-grown Kali-Isa by weight
- Traditional medium grind, ready for a strainer bag or a blender
- Lateral-root forward for a fuller, rounder bowl
- Every lot tested for identity, kavalactone content and flavokavains
- Ground and packed in California in a resealable, light-blocking pouch
How to prepare
Add 2 heaped tablespoons per 8 oz of cool water to a strainer bag. Knead and squeeze for 3–5 minutes until the water turns the colour of milky tea. Squeeze the bag dry, pour, and drink it down.
This blend runs on the stronger side. Start with one serving and give it 20 minutes before you pour another.
